Clothing Drive This Saturday!

On this weekend's DGL episode "No Good Thing," at least! The fundraising project comes courtesy of Miss Tiffany Richter, who's organized it, and Miss Haley Morrison, who's provided most of the support for it! Listen in to one of the most light-hearted episodes from S6 and then let us know if centering a whole DGL episode around a clothing appeal worked!
  • Was this episode funny?
  • Was Tiffany's exciting clothing drive a good idea? What aspect or aspects of Tiffany and Monica's conduct did you find the most outrageous or unbelievable?
  • Does your family get as enthusiastic (and, in some cases, apprehensive) about getting rid of old clothes as the Morrisons do in this episode? Did that portrayal ring true?
  • Did you enjoy seeing Haley do something out-of-character? Was the way she used the verse immature?
  • What did you think about Maya being the one to convict Haley?
  • What conclusions can we take from this episode regarding purity of heart?
Please get your review in before we record this Monday (August 22) at 3PM!

  1. * Was this episode funny?

Yes, though actually what touched me was Maya's and John's discussions with Haley in the end. Maya's such a new Christian but she's already grown so much!

And Haley's realization that devotion to God is the main thing, it also was convicting for me. I don't struggle with clothes, but I struggle with other areas of obedience to God.

    * Was Tiffany's exciting clothing drive a good idea? What aspect or aspects of Tiffany and Monica's conduct did you find the most outrageous or unbelievable?

I thought it was a bit melodramatic the whole concept from the beginning. Most people when they do stuff to impress others are also self-delusional and not explicitly acknowledging that they are doing it just for their own ego.

    * Does your family get as enthusiastic (and, in some cases, apprehensive) about getting rid of old clothes as the Morrisons do in this episode? Did that portrayal ring true?

I'm not a clothes person so I'm not so apprehensive about giving away old clothes. My wife is more of a clothes person but she can also be generous.

    * Did you enjoy seeing Haley do something out-of-character? Was the way she used the verse immature?

I don't think she was really out-of-character. Sure, having no clothes is not Haley, but her motivation and reaction were very Haley :-)

    * What did you think about Maya being the one to convict Haley?

As I mentioned earlier, I was impressed with Maya's maturity in her faith.

    * What conclusions can we take from this episode regarding purity of heart?

It makes me think of one of my favourite songs, the Indonesian song, "Betapa hatiku" (with my whole heart). Here's a YouTube of it with an English translation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru4i2jOeHPA and the verses it's based on, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:1-2)
